Happy Valentine's Day

Mark Twain said, "To get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with."  So, in honor of  Valentine's Day, I want to share some pictures with you of scenes from the weekend that brought me joy.  I wish that I could show you the full effect of what I saw - it was magical.

On a very few mornings in deep Winter it will be foggy.  The air is full of enough moisture and the temperatures are cold enough to turn our little world into a Winter Wonderland for a few brief hours.

Ice crystals form on everything.

Whole trees, even forests become completely covered in ice that mimics fuzzy flocking...

...until the suns rises high in the sky, gently warming it until it begins to drop like falling snow.

The sun is warm enough to begin to melt the snow.  The temperatures are cold enough to turn that melting snow into every child's (and child at heart's) favorite treat - icicles.

These are perfect Winter days.  She sighs...  Life is good.

Happy Valentines's day!
Pam

P.S.  Tonight marks the 2 year anniversary for the first night we slept in this house.  Sometimes it doesn't feel like it's been that long at all.  Sometimes it seems like it's been much longer than that.

  1. Happy Valentines Day, my friend! What beauty you have shared! How much snow did you get from these last 2 storms? We got over 36"...with more on the way this week!

I've missed you...I'm trying to get posting and visiting back into my routine!
Hope all is well with you!

  2. Great quote, and FAB photos...loooooove it when there are ice crystals on everything. Reminds me of Dr. Zchivago (sp.?) Looks like a regular winter wonderland!

We're sadly missing snow here. It got cold for a few days...enough to give us hope, but alas, it snowed for only five minutes and was too wet outside to stick. Felt like spring today here.

It's just NOT winter without a little bit of snow!

  3. 2 years! Yep, I can agree. Sometimes it doesn't seem like you have been gone that long and then sometimes it seems like it has been ages. Nice pics. Today we walked in flops and short sleeves with the sun beating down on us. It was gr-r-eat, well, all except the allergy attack. Spring is a'comin'.
