Never again.
I used to use generic Daisy-type razors, but for the last year or so have been using the Schick Quattro because I realized I can get it pretty cheaply at Walgreens when they have a sale and I have a coupon. They last forever, and while I sometimes use shaving cream, sometimes I just use body wash or conditioner. And sometimes just water, when I want to be super quick.

Thanks for visiting my blog :)Hollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11251615655963897793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2957707408902134063.post-41562911418464499972009-06-23T16:04:59.610-04:002009-06-23T16:04:59.610-04:00That story gives me the same cringey feeling that ...That story gives me the same cringey feeling that occurs when someone scrapes nails down a chalkboard. **shudders** Yeowch!

In college, I heard that you could use inexpensive Suave hair conditioner in place of pricey shave gels, and get lots of use out of plain old dollar store razors if you make sure to dry them extra well between uses (to prevent rust). That's always worked really well for me.

I'm told you can also 'shave' a bar of soap after using the razor and it helps to lube the blade for your next shave and keep it from rusting in the shower.

My mom reads while she soaks in a tub at the end of every day, and then shaves at the end of her bath and moisturizes immediately afterwards. It's supposed to get the closest shave and retain the most moisture. She's always had nice smooth legs and beautiful skin. As I've said before, my sisters got most of their genes from her...I, however, ended up with the mutant genes in the pool 9read:the neanderthal, I mean my dad's side of the family's genetics)...and have thick dark hair...flowing from my legs. Oy. Needless to say, no matter what way I shave, I'll never be a short-shorts kind of gal, lol.Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03362618797920704090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2957707408902134063.post-57826646582555978322009-06-23T12:21:13.383-04:002009-06-23T12:21:13.383-04:00I use Bic's Soleil razor. And, if you keep it outside the moisture stricken shower it won't rust as fast. (That's always been my problem with shaving and razors.) I did; however, use it once for a dry shave. I have very fine hair and was able to just barely touch my legs with the blades. Because, I too have had razor burn, and can get it easily. I just made sure the blades and the gelly part on the edge was super wet. I felt almost as if I had gotten some burn, so I immediately put a good smearing of the Jergens Ultra Healing lotion on my legs and they were alright. Hope you find something that works for you. :)Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03573341939788439697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2957707408902134063.post-18327515158536649252009-06-23T11:09:29.333-04:002009-06-23T11:09:29.333-04:00Hi Pam!
I don't really have any earth shatteri...Hi Pam!
I don't really have any earth shattering suggestions for you regarding a razor...I for one would never try shaving w/out water and cream...but, that's just me. ;-D
I happen to believe that a good shave cream is part of getting a good shave as is the gentle exfoliant scrub I use beforehand on my legs.
I am however, delighted to hear that you made yourself a breakfast salad and enjoyed it...I happen to think it tastes better with spinach...but that's just me. ;-D
I do have a shaving story for you....when I was about 13 or 14, while taking a bath, I decided to experiment with the razor...at that time there really wasn't any such thing as a special razor for women, at least not in our house. The razor my mother used was the same kind my father used. You twisted the handle to expose more or less of the blade...anyway, I exposed more of the blade thinking it would give me a better shave...and it did, kind of...it shaved a nice slice of skin off of my shin...talk about pain! I found myself sitting in blood red bath water, in pain, feeling mad and stupid! I had to wear a bandage on it for a very long time...I have been cautious shaving ever since!

have a fabulous day!
<3Kathleen Ellishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18196455216012510521noreply@blogger.com
